A long-distance hike with the Agilist

From the first day to the finish line

On a long journey, it’s not the first kilometer that counts, but the thousandth one. Four moments that show what a backpack can do.

The hiker packs his things Agilist on a meadow next to a small pond Agilist 2026 again, with a water bottle and sticks in the outer pockets

Day 1 · At the starting point

Pack well once, then run for weeks.

The main compartment holds a tent, sleeping bag, mat and clothing; the roll closure on top seals it off. Everything for the day is carried outside. It Agilist is frameless: Those who pack it securely will get a sturdy backpack that sits quietly on the back.

„When you fill the part completely like I do, it really holds together all by itself in a very wonderful way.“

Week 2 · In the rhythm

Water, energy bars, mobile phone: everything is on hand.

After a few days, you run six to eight hours straight. Anyone who stops for every sip loses their rhythm. Two 1-liter bottles fit in each side pocket, bars are in the bottom pocket, and the phone is in the shoulder strap pocket. You can get through five pockets without stopping.

„I love the many external stretch pockets to have quick access to and to be able to store everything organized.“

Day 23 · Five days until the next store

Full fuel tank, quiet ride.

After the purchase, the backpack is the heaviest. Up to 13 kg, it is Agilist comfortable to carry. The padded hip belt takes the load, the firmly attached back pad keeps the contents away from the back, and three sizes ensure the right length.

„For long-distance hiking with 5 days of resupply, it’s easily usable; at 7+ it gets cramped and I had to cinch the tent on top, but that’s exactly how I wanted it.“

Alex on a mountain path near the Ortler during the Alpine Crossing from Vienna to Nice in 2017

Developed along the way

1,900 kilometers from Vienna to Nice

In 2017, I walked through the Alps in 107 days, from the Vienna Woods to the Mediterranean Sea, over 100,000 meters of altitude. What bothered me on this tour and what helped me are today in the Agilist.

„When I arrived in Nice, I was carrying two pairs of shoes. The backpack held it all.“
Alex, founder of WeitLäufer, Emmendingen

Questions before the long tour

Is 54 liters enough for a long hiking trip with a tent?

For light equipment, yes. The main compartment with 40 liters holds a tent, sleeping bag, mat and clothing; the 14-liter outer pockets hold water, food and a rain jacket. If you’re short on food for seven or more days, you can pitch the tent on top.

How much weight does the ? carry Agilist?

Comfortable for a total weight of up to 13 kg. With a base weight of 6 to 8 kg, there is still room for food for several days and water. A significantly heavier load is not intended for a frameless backpack. If you plan long periods without supplies, Write to us first.

Borderless over thousands of kilometers, is that possible?

Yes, if weight and packing are suitable. The sleeping bag and mat provide shape to the backpack; the back pad is firmly attached; the hip belt is padded. Many customers report less shoulder pain than with their old frame backpack.

Will the heavy rain continue for the Agilist entire day?

It is built to withstand the elements: Ultra 200X all seams are taped, with a roll-top closure. We still don’t call it waterproof, however, because the outer pockets are open. For the sleeping bag, we recommend using a lightweight pack sack as the inner lining for long trips.

What if something breaks along the way?

The 3-year manufacturer warranty applies. We repair the equipment ourselves in Emmendingen, even after a long tour. Just write to us, We will find a solution.

What if he doesn't suit me?
