A Ultralight backpack is a minimalist trekking rucksack, which differs from conventional rucksacks primarily in its extremely low weight and reduction to the essentials differs. They are also an excellent choice for pilgrimages like the Camino de Santiago. Thanks to the use of lightweight materials such as Ultra 200X or Dyneema, ultralight rucksacks are nevertheless very robust and are every bit as durable as traditional trekking rucksacks.

AGILIST 2026 offers the the best weather protection we've ever built into a backpack. The Ultra-200X laminate is 100 % waterproof in its own right, and the seams are taped, so taped instead of just stitched. This means it reliably withstands even persistent rain.

Ultralight rucksacks rarely have a traditional carrying system. The contents give the rucksack the necessary stability. Therefore, it is important to pack ultralight backpacks compactly and fully! When half-full, they do not provide optimum comfort. To give the WeitLäufer rucksacks structure even when they are not fully loaded, foam padding is permanently fitted to the back of the Agilist. This helps to distribute the weight more effectively across the hip belt and cushions the contents.

For hikers who do not want to go without a carrying system, but are still looking for a lightweight backpack, there is now the WeitLäufer Endurist. This lightweight trekking rucksack combines the lightness of an ultralight rucksack with a stable carrying system for extra comfort.

The carrying system of the Endurist It consists of an aluminium profile and a plastic panel, which together ensure stability and can comfortably support loads of up to 18 kg. Despite this robust construction, the Endurist remains an extremely lightweight rucksack, weighing from just 880 g.

To ensure a backpack fits well, they are often offered in various back lengths. The back length is the Distance between the 7th cervical vertebra and the upper edge of the pelvic bone. You can determine this distance with a tape measure. Ideally, a second person will help you.

If you are between two back lengths, we recommend the smaller to choose. Using the load lifters, you can pull the shoulder straps up slightly and thus better adjust them to your body shape.

Jep. The Agilist has a Unisex fit and is worn by many women on long-distance hikes. The S-shaped shoulder straps are cut to run around the chest rather than resting on it. This means they fit comfortably even with female anatomy, without pinching or chaffing.

Yes, the Agilist comes as standard with a padded hip belt delivered, which ensures optimal wearing comfort and stability. It is padded with high-quality, 10 mm thick EVA foam to guarantee a high level of comfort and effective load transfer to the hips, despite the ultralight backpack design. The hip belt covers a wide range of sizes and fits most hip circumferences.

Maximum hip belt circumference: 156 cm (fully extended webbing straps).

Minimum hip belt circumference: 69 cm, for very slim hips. With this minimal width, the two fins overlap slightly, which is intentional so that even narrow hips are still held firmly.

The recommended maximum carrying weight of the rucksack is approximately 13 kilograms. Carrying more weight in an ultralight rucksack simply isn't comfortable for long periods of time. The base weight of your kit should therefore ideally be around 5 to 7 kg.

Nevertheless, after a resupply, even larger loads can be carried for a short time. Structurally, the backpack can also withstand loads well over 15 kg. However, whether the weight is still comfortable to carry over longer distances is an individual matter.

A common prejudice regarding ultralight backpacks is the seemingly limited carrying comfort. However, this prejudice can quickly be refuted, because the carrying comfort of a backpack also always depends on the correct packing method.

It’s perfectly normal to start sweating on your back after a certain amount of time and intensity whilst hiking with a rucksack. When designing the Agilist, we deliberately chose not to include a ventilated back panel, as this, contrary to the minimalist core idea our ultra-light equipment and we want to keep the rucksack as light as possible.

Furthermore, in our experience, in warm temperatures and during strenuous hikes to sweat eventually even with a ventilated back section Therefore, we opted for the current contact-back design. A practical tip: place the backpack in the sun during breaks with the back panel facing it to dry out the moisture.

The rucksack comes as standard with no hip belt pockets. However, there can be Ultralight bip belt pouches to be ordered, which can be slid onto the hip belt and fixed in place.

The dimensions of the Agilist are 55 × 28 × 17 cm. These measurements lie within the hand luggage guidelines of many airlines, which often maximum size of 55 × 40 × 20 cm allow. With its slim depth of just 17 cm, the Agilist usually remains within the permitted limits, even when fully loaded.

Bear in mind, however, that every airline has its own rules. It’s always a good idea to check your airline’s guidelines in advance, particularly when it comes to weight. But with the Agilist, you’ll be well equipped in most cases to travel flexibly and lightly.

A BV450 (7 l) fits sideways in the main compartment; the larger BV500 (11 l) must stand vertically and reaches to just below the rolltop. Horizontally it is too wide. Pack the jerry can as close to your body as possible to balance the weight.

Compact cameras can be found in the optionally available shoulder or hip belt pockets securely stow them away. These are designed so that cameras the size of a Sony RX100 will easily fit inside. Most current smartphones will also fit into these pockets.

Larger cameras such as system or DSLR cameras are easiest to attach via a special camera bag on the hip belt. This requires loops that are at least 40 mm wide on the camera bag in question.

Alternatively, it fits CaptureClip by PeakDesign easily to both shoulder straps. This makes attaching a DSLR or mirrorless camera the most comfortable way.
