Our site in Emmendingen (Baden-Württemberg) will remain the creative hub. Development, design, and specialised craftsmanship happen here. The lab focuses on four areas:
Innovation & Prototyping
We are using the spare capacity to experiment extensively with new materials and bring completely new products (tarps, shelters) to market.
Endurist · Made-to-Order
Each Endurist is produced here in very limited numbers, tailored to individual specifications. Made in Germany. Entirely handcrafted.
Trailist
We will continue to manufacture this model exclusively at our site in Emmendingen until the end of 2026.
Repair
Sustainability means repairability. If something on your rucksack breaks, we'll repair it right here in the Black Forest.
Why Vietnam.
To process the Ultra 200X laminate to be weatherproof, highly specialised Taping machines and production routines necessary, which we cannot achieve at this uncompromising level with a domestic sewing machine.
For pure manufacturing, we therefore work with a High-Tech Ultralight Pack Manufacturers in Vietnam. It specialises in working with ultralight materials such as Ultra 200X, DCF (Dyneema), Gridstop and X-Pac. The result: taped seams for maximum protection against the elements. This is a technique that simply cannot be achieved using conventional sewing machines.
The WeitLäufer Lab remains at the heart of the brand: Design, development, QC of every single rucksack and final dispatch. We are taking this step to a new level with the new manufacturing process. We are passing on the efficiency advantage directly.

Every delivery is sent first to WeitLäufer Lab in Emmendingen. Only once everything is in order will your rucksack be sent to you.
Materials testing
Laminates, stretch fabrics, zips, buckles. No visible defects, correct specification.
Processing & Seams
Clean taping, correctly locked stress points, even stitch patterns.
Functionality test
Roll-top closure, tankas, buckles, back length adjustment. Everything is tested thoroughly.
Despatch authorisation
Only rucksacks that pass all four steps go out. Each one individually.
