General questions about the backpacks

How do the Agilist and the Endurist differ?

The Agilist is consistently designed for ultralight trekking and minimal equipment. It has a reduced carrying system and is extremely light with a slim pack size. The Endurist in contrast, offers a somewhat more stable carrying system and can therefore also comfortably carry higher loads (up to approx. 18 kg). It is completely configurable, allowing you to select padding, pockets and materials, for example, very individually.

Which material is more durable: DCF, VX21 or Ultra 200X?

Dyneema® Composite Fabrics (DCF) points with extremely low weight and high tear resistance. Perfect for anyone who prioritises maximum weight saving. VX21 (X-Pac) in contrast, it boasts excellent abrasion resistance and has a slightly higher basis weight of 210 g/m². If you often find yourself in rough terrain, VX21 may be more advantageous in the long run.

Ultra 200X is a high-performance laminate from Challenge Sailcloth weighing 133 g/m². It combines a high proportion of UHMWPE fibres (67 %) with a black CrossPly reinforcement grid, which ensures high dimensional stability. The fabric does not stretch, even under heavy loads. It also features a waterproof film made from 100 % recycled PET on the inside. In terms of tear and abrasion resistance, Ultra 200X outperforms the previous VX21 whilst having a significantly lower grammage.

All three materials are waterproof and UV-resistant. DCF is the lightest, VX21 is the thickest and most abrasion-resistant in its weight class, and Ultra 200X offers the best balance of durability and weight. Which material is right for you depends primarily on your intended use and the desired balance between weight and durability.

What is the actual capacity of the Agilist? Is there a smaller version?

The Agilist has a total volume of approximately 54 litres (incl. outer pockets). We do not currently offer a smaller variant as standard. However, with the roll-top closure and compression straps, you can reduce the usable volume and make the backpack more compact.

How does the roll-top closure work and how does it affect the packing volume?

The roll-top closure is rolled up at the top and secured with a buckle. This allows you to flexibly adjust the main compartment to the amount of loading. With a lot of equipment, you roll up less, with little equipment, you roll up more. This way, you always use only as much space as you actually need.

Are the rucksacks waterproof?

The Agilist 2026 It is made from waterproof Ultra 200X fabric and has taped seams. This means it offers a very high level of protection against the elements. A separate rain cover or pack liner is not necessary in the vast majority of situations. However, during several days of heavy rain, a lightweight pack liner may be a sensible extra precaution.

At Endurist and on older Agilist models, the seams are not taped. The fabric itself (X-Pac or Ultra 200X) is waterproof, but moisture can seep in through the seams. In this case, we recommend using a rucksack liner or dry bags for sensitive equipment.

Fit & Size Selection

What back length do I need?

To ensure a lightweight trekking rucksack fits well, they are often offered in different back lengths. These vary from person to person. The back length is measured as Distance between the 7th cervical vertebra and the upper edge of the pelvic bone measured. You can easily determine this distance with a tape measure.

When you place your chin on your chest, the 7. Cervical vertebrae the one that protrudes the most. You can easily feel it with your hand. You can find the top edge of your pelvic bone by placing your hands on your hips and pointing your thumbs towards your spine. The iliac crest is located between your thumbs and marks the lower point of your back length.

Ideally, a second person will help you determine and measure your back length.

Another way to find the right rucksack size is using the Height to go. While these values are not as accurate as the back length, they provide a good indication.

If you are between two back lengths, it's generally recommended to choose the longer length. This is because it's often easier to make a garment slightly shorter than it is to make it longer.

If you’re between two back lengths, I’d recommend choosing the shorter one. That’s because on the Agilist, the standard Load Lifters attached above the shoulder straps. This allows you to pull the shoulder straps up slightly and adjust them better to your body shape. Load lifters also stabilise the pack when there's more luggage in the rucksack.

Usage and Accessories

Wie mache ich meinen Rucksack wetterfest?

The Agilist 2026 It has taped seams and is made from Ultra 200X, a waterproof laminate. This means that a separate rain cover or pack liner is not necessary in most situations. In the event of continuous rain lasting several days, or if you want to be on the safe side, a lightweight pack liner provides additional protection for your kit.

For all other models, the following applies: X-Pac and similar materials are already highly water-repellent. It is best to pack important items in dry bags or a waterproof rucksack liner. A separate rain cover also works, but often doesn’t fit roll-top rucksacks quite perfectly.

How do I attach a camera bag or other additional bags to the Trailist or Endurist?

Many camera bags can be attached to a shoulder strap or hip belt using webbing loops, Velcro, or clips. You can also use the well-known Capture Clip (Peak Design) to carry a DSLR or mirrorless camera directly on your shoulder straps.

Can the daisy chains be used for additional attachments?

Yes, our daisy chains allow you to flexibly attach equipment (e.g. trekking poles, sleeping mats, light bags) to the outside of your rucksack. Just be sure not to attach very heavy loads outside your centre of gravity.

07

Warranty, Repair & Longevity

How do I report a warranty claim?

Please send us an email with photos of the damage and a brief description. We will get back to you within two working days. The exact procedure is on the page Warranty & Repair summarised.

What if something breaks after the warranty period?

No problem. We also offer after the 3 years a paid repair service Just send us a few photos by email, and we'll give you an assessment of what's possible and what it will cost.

Does the warranty cover normal wear and tear?

No. The warranty covers material and manufacturing defects, not normal wear and tear such as abrasion or fading. What exactly is and is not covered is detailed at Warranty & Repair.

How durable are the materials?

The high-tech materials used in our rucksacks (e.g. Ultra 200X, X-Pac VX21, UltraStretch, DCF) are designed for high durability. If looked after properly, they will often last for many years. Make sure you don’t let sharp edges come into contact with the inside of the rucksack without protection, and don’t drag the rucksacks across rocks. That way, you’ll be able to enjoy them for a long time to come.
