Backpack Size Chart

Measure backpack back length

To ensure backpacks fit most hikers, they are often offered in different back lengths. This is because everyone's back is different. It describes the Distance between the 7th cervical vertebra and the upper edge of the pelvic bone. You can easily measure this distance with a tape measure.

But how do you find the two points?

Wenn Sie Ihr Kinn auf die Brust legen, ist der 7. Cervical vertebrae The vertebra that protrudes most strongly at the nape of your neck. You can now easily feel it with your hand. You can find the upper edge of your pelvic bone by placing your hands on your hips and pointing both thumbs towards your spine. Midway between your thumbs is the iliac crest, which marks the lower point of your back length.

Ideally, a second person will help you determine and measure your back length.

Size Chart

Once you have determined your back length, you can read off the correct rucksack size for the WeitLäufer rucksacks in the following size chart:

Back length

Rucksack size

40 – 43 cm Small
43 – 53 cm Middle
53–59 cm Large

Another way to find the right rucksack size is via the Height to go. While these values aren't as precise as back length, they give a good indication of the length that will most likely fit you.

Height

Rucksack size

up to 168 cm Small
168 – 188 cm Middle
188 – 200 cm Large

Between two back lengths, what to do?

If you are between two back lengths, I can recommend the Smaller to choose. Because the load lifters allow you to pull the shoulder straps upwards slightly if desired, thus adapting them better to your body shape. Load lifters also stabilise your pack, especially if you've packed a bit more luggage into your rucksack.

Material & Craftsmanship

High-end laminate, sealed

Complementing the Agilist 2026, the hip belt bag has also switched to the same material, with all the properties that make your main backpack so light and robust.

Ultra 200X Material Detail
Ultra 200X · UHMWPE Composite

Ultra 200X is one of the strongest UHMWPE composite fabrics in the world. A dense weave of UHMWPE and high-strength polyester is laminated to a waterproof PET film with an eco-friendly adhesive. The result: extremely tear-resistant, feather-light at only 132 g/m², waterproof up to 14 bars and complete PFAS-free.

Tear-resistant, feather-light, waterproof
UHMWPE fibre: the same high-performance polyethylene fibre as is used in bulletproof vests, making the laminate exceptionally tear-resistant. At just 132 g/m², Ultra 200X significantly outperforms comparably lightweight fabrics. Waterproof up to 14 bar pressure, which equates to a 140-metre water column.
Sealed seams
The seams are factory-sealed with UltraTNT 30 mm. No water ingress through needle holes, at the same time the zip is not waterproof.
Same material as your backpack
Identical high-tech laminate as the Agilist 2026. The bag and rucksack will age uniformly, still looking cohesive after years, a consistent system rather than a jumble of components.
Montage

In three steps at the hip belt

No screws, no tape, no tools. The bag is threaded directly onto the hip belt before putting on the backpack. Position can be freely chosen, left, right, or front centre.

1
Hip belt buckle open
Open the Buckle on the hip belt your backpack. On the Agilist and Endurist, also thread the 20mm webbing through the ladder lock buckle on the hip belt fin.
2
Thread the straps
Feed the hip belt through the first of the two loops on the back of the bag. You thread the 20mm webbing on the hip belt fin through the second of the two loops.
3
Buckle up
Thread the 20mm webbing back through the ladderlock buckle, re-fasten the main buckle, done.
Fits any hip belt up to 60 mm wide. This covers all endurance runner backpacks and nearly every UL backpack on the market. If in doubt, briefly measure the webbing.

FAQ

Frequent Questions

The bag fits on any hip belt up to 60 mm wide. This covers all ultralight backpacks and almost every common ultralight backpack on the market.

If you are unsure, measure the width of your rucksack's hip belt with a tape measure. If the width is less than 60 mm: it fits. If it is over 60 mm (e.g. with classic trekking rucksacks with 70 mm straps), it will be too tight.

At 21.5 × 15 cm, the bag has significantly more volume than a shoulder strap bag. Typical combinations that fit in easily together:

  • Smartphone (up to iPhone Pro Max / Samsung Ultra) + Wallet + Bar
  • Walking guide (paperback format) + Snack bag
  • Compact camera (up to Sony RX100) + Sunglasses + Map
  • Buff / Multifunctional scarf + hat + snack

Plus the internal key clip for anything that must not be lost.

She is highly water-repellent, but not in the sense of a dry bag being waterproof. The Ultra 200X laminate reliably repels rain and spray. The zip is not taped, so water can penetrate in prolonged rain.

For sensitive electronics during prolonged rain, we recommend placing your mobile phone in a zip-lock bag or carrying it in the main compartment of your backpack.

The internal clip (a small karabiner on a short loop) is intended for anything you you absolutely don't want to lose:

  • Car keys at the start of a multi-day tour
  • Whistle or emergency signal
  • Little Compass

Even if the bag is open and tips awkwardly: what's attached to the clip won't fall out.

Optimised for the Agilist and Endurist. However, it works with any rucksack who has:

  • a hip belt up to 60 mm wide,
  • and a buckle that allows the strap to be fully undone (standard on almost all rucksacks).

The side securing loops are optional; they provide extra stability if your backpack has daisy chains on the hip belt. The bag will still work without daisy chains, it will just sit a little looser.

All three positions are possible because the bag has a symmetrical design. Most people wear it:

  • Left or right: on the dominant hand side, for quick one-handed access,
  • Centre front if the hip belt buckle is more to the side and there is space at the front.

You can adjust the position at the hip belt at any time without taking it off, simply by sliding the pouch along the belt.

If needed with warm water and a soft cloth Wipe clean. No washing machine, no harsh cleaners. Occasionally treat the zip with silicone spray, then it will run quietly even after years.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. UV radiation causes the material to age more slowly.

Just like the Agilist 2026, the Hip Belt Pouch is manufactured in our high-tech ultralight pack manufactory in Vietnam. The Ultra 200X laminate requires specialised processing that we cannot achieve to this level on a domestic sewing machine.

Design, development, QC of every single piece and the final shipping continue to take place in the WeitLäufer Lab in Emmendingen.
